At the end of qualification rounds:
676 ranked 5th
3812 ranked 6
3820 ranked 7
3811 ranked 12
3819 ranked 13
During the Alliance selection team 676 moved up to 4th place and selected team 2858 to be their alliance partner. Similarly 3rd place team 560 selected 3812. So Thus we had 2 teams make it into the quarter final (best 2 out of 3). Alas both our teams were knocked out in the quarters finals and did not make the championship round.
Ultimately team 482 Devilbots – Wade Hampton HS, SC and their alliance partner team 315 Blackout from Anderson, SC were the winning alliance.
Several of our teams made the short list for an award but unfortunately were not chosen in the end.
Overall I am very proud of our teams, all the teams were able to put their robots on the playing field and compete including the two teams who struggled at the beginning of the day a testament to the adage ‘Never give up’. Feedback from one of the judges was that our teams had good log books and with a bit more focus on the log books our teams could have been the chosen finalist for the awards. I will share more of this feedback first hand with you and the Engineering Booster Association at our meeting on Saturday.
Regards
Sam

I simply can not say enough, just how proud I am of the all the work you guys put into the tournament. It went off without a hitch. You are a professional organization that represents our school to the fullest.
ReplyDeleteWe do need to decide on future tournaments. Right now we have our three remaining teams registered for Feb 6th qualifier and no teams registered for the TN tournament. I would recommend that two of the teams we send to TN are 2981 (James and Tyler) and the girls team 676 (Hannah Kwon). That is assuming we have parents on each team to take them to TN. TN registration is $275 a team.
Team 676 has also asked to pay their own way to the next GA qualifier. Team 3820 may also want to pay their way. I haven't heard from any others yet.
We are being limited to 4-5 teams per GA qualifier. With only three qualifiers, some of our teams can not compete twice. Mannie may increase the number of people qualified at each tournament in the future, but the invites will probably go to 2nd team alliances and award winners at the tournaments. That doesn't help us at this point.
FRC is starting off well, with several members meeting each day. We had about 1/2 the team last Saturday. Right now we are trying to order additional parts needed. I think they will do well for a rookie team.
